What you'll learn
- What profile settings are available
- How each setting affects your proposals
Your profile settings
Navigate to Settings → Profile to configure the details that Ergate uses when generating proposals. The more accurate your profile, the better your proposals will match how you actually work.
Personal details
- Name — your full name, displayed on proposals and in your account
- Email — your account email address (also used for notifications)
- Timezone — used for timestamp display and scheduling references in proposals
Professional details
Industry
Select your primary industry (e.g., Web Development, Design, Marketing, Consulting, Copywriting). The AI uses this to:
- Choose appropriate terminology
- Structure deliverables in the way your industry expects
- Reference relevant methodologies and frameworks
Skills
Select the specific services you offer. You can choose multiple skills. The AI matches these against client brief requirements to generate relevant deliverables and scope items.
Be specific with your skills. Instead of just selecting "Development", add skills like "React", "Node.js", or "API Integration". The AI uses these to produce more targeted proposals.
Pricing defaults
- Hourly rate — your base rate for time-based work. The AI uses this as the starting point for pricing estimates.
- Currency — choose from USD, EUR, GBP, and other major currencies. All pricing in your proposals displays in this currency.
- Pricing model — your default model (hourly, fixed price, retainer, or value-based). This determines how the AI structures pricing when generating new proposals. You can always override this per proposal.
Changes to your pricing defaults apply to new proposals only. Existing proposals keep the pricing they were generated with.
Writing style
Tone
Choose a preset that matches your voice:
- Professional — formal, structured, and business-focused
- Friendly — warm, conversational, and approachable
- Technical — precise, detailed, and specification-oriented
- Creative — expressive, narrative-driven, and bold
Custom tone description
If the presets don't quite fit, write a custom description of your preferred voice. For example: "Confident but not arrogant. Use short sentences. Avoid jargon. Sound like a senior consultant, not a salesperson."
The AI uses your tone settings to shape the writing style of every proposal it generates.
Saving changes
All profile changes save automatically. New settings take effect the next time you generate a proposal.
